 After slaughter we will send you an invoice with the total cost due to Veritas Ranch. The cost is the per pound rate times pounds of hanging weight. This is the cost of the meat share and will be payable to the farm.

The processing fees will be paid to Silvana Meats by the customer at the time of pickup. Silvana Meats charges the harvest fee, and a per pound price for cutting and wrapping, as well as smoking and other processes you many want. Check their website for current prices. 

Simple math: 

hanging weight x price per pound to Veritas Ranch

hanging weight x cut/wrap per pound (usually $1.05) to Silvana Meats at pickup

harvest fee ($100 per half beef) to Silvana Meats at pickup

In the state of Washington, a farm cannot sell packaged meat by the individual cut unless it has be processed in a USDA inspected facility. These facilities charge more to process meat than facilities that do not have an inspector present at time of slaughter. 

Our bundle packages are processed at Island Grown Farmers Coop, which is a USDA inspected facility. Our prices on our bundles have the processing fees built in. 

When we sell shares of a cow or hog, the customer buys a share of the meat from that specific animal. We will schedule Silvana Meats, a local custom butcher shop, to slaughter, cut and wrap the meat share for our customers. 

The customer is responsible to pay Silvana Meats to process their meat share. These costs can vary as they charge $1.05/lb processing, but if smoking, sausages, or organs are chosen as options, there are additional charges. 

Some farms choose to pay the processing fees for the customers and build them into their prices. We choose not to do that. We want to provide the best value to each customer and don't want to pass on anyone else's fees. 

Reserve your 1/4, 1/2, whole cow or 1/2 or whole hog with our farm through email. We'll let you know when the next available share will be ready. We'll also send you a cut instruction list for you to pick the cuts and package sizes you want. 

Yes, to reserve a share of beef or pork, we require a non-refundable deposit. We accept cash or check. The deposit will be deducted from the total cost after harvest. 

1/4 cow - $100 deposit

1/2 cow - $200 deposit

Whole cow - $400 deposit

1/2 hog - $100 deposit 

Whole hog - $200 deposit

For a whole, half, or quarter share of beef or pork, you will pick up your order directly from Silvana Meats.

For individual cuts or bundle packs, you can pick up your order by appointment at the farm in Stanwood.
